Drama: Anne Frank: 5A.

Act 1: "But remember this Anneke. There are no walls, there are not bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind." Explain what you think this statement means. Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not?

I agree with this statement because there really is nothing that stops you from thinking the way you think. Also, no one can lock you thoughts because you are an individual and everyone is unique. People can think whatever they want so they cannot put any bolts, walls, or locks on it. Since the Franks are in a suitation where they cannot freely do as they wish, their minds are something that the other people cannot take control of. The Nazis can take away their pride, identity, or freedom, but they cannot take away the people's minds and lock it away so it will not be seen. Also, the Jews are in such a condition, I think that it was especially important to let Anne know that no one, not even you parents, can make you think a certain way, also, because they were so restricted, it was important to tell her, "Hey, you still have your mind and that is the greatest thing of all, who cares about that we have no freedom, we still have the freedom to think freely." So, I think that this is similar to our world today. The world may tell you to be something or someone and be this and that, but cannot wall, blot, or lock your thoughts from you. It's that individual's decision to follow or rebel against the world, sort of like what Anne did, she did not let the Nazis or her parents block or lock or wall her thoughts.

Hi Jennifer!
You wrote taht you agreed to the saying! Well, I did too! Until yesterday... I finished this book called "Night" yesterday, and it's a historical fiction about the Holocaust. The main character gets seperated from his familly except for his father. He lives with the hope of end of the war and to survive with his father. But as time passed, I could see that he was even thinking of abandoning his father to survive! That was how cruel it was in the concentration camp. Even reading what had happened made me shivered, but think of all the Jews who actually went through this and saw all these! Ugh! This book made me think that perhaps minds could get locked in...

I did agree with the statement too~.no one can block Anne even though she is Jew. She can have dream and her goals even though she is Jewish!! I think that Mr.Frank told her right things.
